Oregon sunstone faceted trillion earrings

Img_6470 Img_5750 Img_5745This faceted triangular cut is called a trillion or trillian (both spellings seem to be widely used).  The lovely coppery pink stone is an Oregon sunstone, and it has a marvelous fire and shine.  The triangular stones measure 4mm & weigh about 0.22 carats each.  I used gold filled stud earrings for the setting.  (I have a sunstone necklace posted here.)

Hematite cabochon earrings

Img_5754 Img_5759 Img_6377Hematite is another iron compound, iron oxide.  When polished, it has a beautiful silvery gray sheen.  These cabochons are 7x5mm, and I set them in sterling silver.

Pyrite cabochon earrings

Img_5922 Img_6476Pyrite is commonly known as Fool's Gold since its tricksy appearance fooled many miners into thinking they'd found the real thing.  Alas!  They'd only found iron sulfide, worth considerably less.

The pyrite cabochons measure 7x5mm, and I set them into (real) gold-filled stud earrings.

Mother of pearl cabochon earrings

Img_6005_2 Img_5999_2 Img_62561_2Here's some lovely mother of pearl for you!  The cabochons measure 8x6mm, and are about one millimeter thick.  I set them in sterling silver.

Rose amethyst faceted pear earrings

Img_64001 Img_5958This amethyst is on the pale side.  (It looks darker in the 2nd picture, but that's because the picture was taken outdoors in very bright sunlight.)  Its called "rose amethyst" because it has a pinkish cast.

The pear-shaped stones measure 6x4mm, and have a total weight of about 0.75 carats.  I set them in sterling silver.

Price: $12.30 (shipping is free)

Amethyst faceted 6mm round earrings

Img_6150 Img_6157 Img_6245Here's a nice little pair of amethysts, measuring 6mm in diameter, & weighing about 3/4 of a carat each.  I set them in sterling silver.  (You can see my other pair of amethyst earrings here.)
Price: $21 (shipping is free)

Golden citrine faceted 9x7 oval earrings

Img_5890 Img_5897 Img_6507The first two pictures were taken outdoors in direct light, and the third picture was taken indoors in indirect light.

This citrine is positively luscious!  The stones are faceted ovals measuring 9x7mm, from Brazil, with a total weight of 2.6 carats.  I placed them in gold-filled settings, and the total weight of the earrings are less than 0.1 oz.  (You can see my other citrine earrings here.)

Price: $25.80 (shipping is free)

White howlite oval cabochon dangle earrings

Img_5824 Img_5830 Img_6389Here's another set of howlite earrings.  This time I made the 9x7mm cabochons into little dangles and hung them from sterling silver stud earrings.  The settings are also silver.  The total weight of the earrings is less than 0.1 oz.

Price: $18.90 (shipping is free)

White howlite oval cabochon earrings

Img_6142 Img_6147 Img_6358The first two pictures were taken outdoors in direct sunlight; the third was taken indoors in indirect light.

Howlite is another one of my favorite stones.  It is often dyed and used as a substitute for turquoise or lapis lazuli, but I like it best in its undyed state.  The white stone with the soft gray veins reminds me of marble.

These particular stones are oval cabochons, measuring 6x4mm and weighing about 0.49 carats each.  I set them in sterling silver.

Carnelian oval cabochon earrings

Img_6083 Img_6084_4 Img_6412I am discounting this pair of carnelian earrings up front because as you can see, they don't match: one stone is opaque and the other is translucent.  Oh dear!

The mismatched stones measure 7x5mm, and I set them in gold-filled post earrings.

Price: $12.25 (shipping is free)
