Copper chain maille bracelet (Japanese 12 in 2)

IMG_1431 IMG_1591 I should have posted this bracelet earlier, but I only got it photographed this month.  After I finished this bracelet last fall, I took a vacation from jewelry & explored other crafts.  (I learned to tat, and if Geocities ever goes the way of AOL Hometown, this tatting site will be a sad loss.)  But it's past time for me to get back to jewelry!

This particular chain maille bracelet is done in the Japanese style, called 12 in 2 because each pair of flat rings has twelve vertical rings connecting to it.  The rings are copper, and I finished with a copper toggle clasp.  The bracelet is 8 inches long, 0.75 inches wide, and weighs 1.4 oz.

Copper Jens Pind chain maille bracelet

Img_9552 Img_9542This is my first attempt at the Jens Pind weave (also known as Jens Pind's linkage), and it fascinates me.  The bracelet is flexible in one direction, but stiff in the other.  The weave is a bit tricky to do, but very fun!

I used copper rings and finished with a copper toggle clasp.  The bracelet is about 6mm thick, with a length of 8 inches and a weight of 0.7 oz.

Copper byzantine gridlock chain maille bracelet

Img_9565 Img_9558This weave is called the byzantine gridlock.  The rings and the toggle clasp are copper.  The bracelet is 14mm wide & 6mm thick, with a length of 8 5/8 inches.  It weighs 1.5 oz.

Copper shaggy loops chain maille bracelet + earrings

Img_9597_2 Img_9442_2 Img_9599_2The weave for this bracelet is called "shaggy loops" or "flip-flop" because of the movement it makes.  When you shake it, the moving loops make a faint little tinkly sound, so you wouldn't want to be wearing it if you were trying to sneak up on someone.

The bracelet is about 7 inches long, and about 5-6mm thick, with a weight of 0.5 oz.  The rings used for the weave are copper, as is the toggle clasp.

I made earrings to match with solid copper French hooks.  The dangles are about an inch long, and the earrings weigh 0.2 oz.

Copper orbital chain maille bracelet

Img_9637 Img_9400 Here's a big & bold bracelet for you!  I made this bracelet with copper jumprings using an orbital weave.  I finished with a copper toggle clasp.

Copper double spiral chain maille bracelet

Img_9655_2 Img_9394_2This weave is also known as the rope weave.  (There is a single spiral weave, but the spiral isn't stable & if it's not joined to itself, the spiral falls out.  Doubling the rings makes the spiral stable.)

The clasp is a solid copper folding clasp, and the rings used for the weave are also copper.  The bracelet is about 5.5mm in diameter, with a length of 7.5 inches.  It weighs 0.4 oz.

Argentium silver Byzantine chain maille bracelet + earrings

Img_7168 Img_7079The Byzantine weave is rapidly becoming one of my favorite chain maille weaves: it looks insanely complicated, but once learned it's not that bad at all.

The rings I used for this bracelet are made from 18 gauge Argentiumâ„¢ silver wire.  (In a nutshell: Argentiumâ„¢ silver is highly tarnish resistant plus the same purity as sterling silver.)  I finished with a sterling silver toggle clasp.

Img_7175 The bracelet is 7 1/4 inches long, with a weight of 0.7 oz.

Img_7164 Img_7083The matching earrings are about 1 1/4 inches long, and weigh 0.3 oz.

Price: $78 (shipping is free)
