Abalone wire-wrapped pendant

IMG_0534 IMG_0816 Here's another ginormous pendant.  It's an abalone shell which has been glued together and coated to make it smooth.  I wrapped it with sterling silver wire.  The pendant is 2 5/8 inches long, and weighs 0.4 oz.

I am not including a chain, but if you need one let me know & I can add one for about $14.

Cappuccino jasper wire-wrapped pendant

IMG_0557 IMG_0797 IMG_0790This jasper cabochon is a piece that I purchased because I liked the way it looked.  The dark line down the front of the stone is a healed fracture: way back in the distant past, the stone cracked and then became whole again.

The cabochon measures 23x30x7mm, and weighs 45 carats.  I wrapped it with sterling silver wire, using the netted bezel technique.  The pendant is 1.75 inches long, and weighs 0.4 oz.  I am not including a chain, but if you need one let me know & I can add one for about $14.

Oval pyrite bead-link necklace

Img_9874 Img_9940Here's a necklace made with Fool's Gold(aka pyrite) oval beads and real gold-filled wire, finished with a vermeil s-clasp.  (I thought the beads were too heavy for earrings, but I do have pyrite earrings here.)

The ovals measure 18x13mm.  The necklace is about 22.5 inches long, and weighs 2.7 oz.

Peacock pearl small nugget necklace + earrings

Img_9162 Img_9174These pearls are called peacock because of their color, which can't be pinned down to a single shade: among the tones present are blue, green, purple, and pink.  They are irregularly shaped, about 4-5mm in diameter.  I strung them with 2.5mm round sterling silver beads, finishing with a Bali sterling silver hook & eye clasp.  The necklace is about 17 3/8 inches long, with a weight of 0.4 oz.

Img_9166 Img_9156 I made hoop earrings to match.  The hoops are sterling silver, about 0.75 inches in diameter.  They weigh less than 0.1 oz.

Uruguay agate flat oval bead-link necklace

Img_7882 Img_7763I don't know whether Uruguay is the country where my supplier got the agate from, or if it's the name of the particular variety, or if the beads were named randomly.  What I do know is that these beads are colorful--red and green and yellow and white--and semi-translucent.  Most of the ovals are 20x15mm, but there are a couple of smaller ones which I put on the end (the smallest is about 18x13mm).

I joined each oval with gold filled wire, finishing with a vermeil hook & eye clasp.  The necklace is 21.5 inches long, and weighs 2.4 oz.

Fancy jasper twisted oval bead-link necklace

Img_7315Img_7570_2From what I can tell, fancy jasper is a variety in which the stones are strongly and differently colored, usually with reds and greens, with creams, mauves, browns, yellows, and so forth also sometimes appearing.

I bought these particular beads on my Albuquerque trip.  The twisted ovals measure about 20x15mm, and I linked them with sterling silver wire, finishing with a Bali silver s-clasp.

The necklace is about 21.5 inches long (you can shorten it by hooking the clasp between two beads as shown), with a weight of 1.6 oz.

Oregon sunstone faceted trillion earrings

Img_6470 Img_5750 Img_5745This faceted triangular cut is called a trillion or trillian (both spellings seem to be widely used).  The lovely coppery pink stone is an Oregon sunstone, and it has a marvelous fire and shine.  The triangular stones measure 4mm & weigh about 0.22 carats each.  I used gold filled stud earrings for the setting.  (I have a sunstone necklace posted here.)

Price: $23.40 (shipping is free)

Pyrite cabochon earrings

Img_5922 Img_6476Pyrite is commonly known as Fool's Gold since its tricksy appearance fooled many miners into thinking they'd found the real thing.  Alas!  They'd only found iron sulfide, worth considerably less.

The pyrite cabochons measure 7x5mm, and I set them into (real) gold-filled stud earrings.

Lapis nevada chip necklace

Img_5339 Img_5116Lapis Nevada (also know as Nevada Lapis) is a new stone for me.  The soft greens and pinks remind me of spring.  It's a little scarce these days, as the mine where it is found is now closed, so I had to content myself with these chips.

I strung the chips with 4mm sterling silver beads, and finished with a silver lobster clasp.  The length of the necklace is 17 inches, with a weight of 1.1 oz.

Pink zebra jasper bead-link necklace

Img_4055 Img_3936As I said in an earlier post, names can cover a lot of different looking stone.  For instance, the beads in this necklace were sold to me as "zebra jasper".  They look totally different from the zebra jasper I used for a necklace I posted last May.  This time, the stones are pink and gray and black--kind of nifty, actually.

Anyway, I linked each 18x13mm rectangle with sterling silver wire.  I finished with the last of my Turkish silver hook & eye clasps.  (I've got to get more of those.)

Img_4052 The necklace is 23 inches long (can be worn shorter by hooking the clasp as shown), and weighs 2.3 oz.

Price: $25.20 (shipping is free)
