Carnelian square tube bead-link necklace

Img_2071 Img_2075These beads are carnelian, and I'm torn between describing them as a deep reddish orange or as a light orangish red.  I just asked Tom and he said "orange", so that's what I'm going with.  The deep orange color is obtained by heating the stone gently.  (Carnelian in its natural state is a lighter tannish color).

Img_2068 Each rectangular bead measures 13x4mm.  I linked each one with gold-filled wire, and finished with a Bali vermeil S-clasp.  The length of the necklace is 23.75 inches (can be worn shorter as shown), and the weight is 0.8 oz.

Price: $27 (shipping is free)

Red onyx nugget bead-link necklace

Img_1569Darned if I can tell the difference between red onyx and red agate at a glance, but anyway this necklace is onyx.  The beads are about 13 to 18mm in length.
Img_1572 I linked each bead with gold-filled wire, & used a Bali vermeil S-clasp.

The length is 24 inches (can be worn shorter by hooking the hook between two beads), and the weight is 2.2 oz.

Price: $32.90 (shipping is free)

Sunstone necklace

Sunstone is another iridescent material.  The flashes look as if copper granules have been suspended in orange crystal.  I wish the Wikipedia article had a good picture, but you'll have to make do with this:

Item1007 The sunstone beads are button-shaped, and about 5-6mm in diameter.  The beads in between are gold-filled.

The clasp is a gold-filled lobster (or trigger) type: Img_36951

The necklace is about 19.5 inches long, with a weight of 0.6 oz.

Price: $34.50  $29 (shipping is free).
