Ametrine is getting harder to find these days. I fell in love with it when I purchased a sparkly string of cushion cut ametrine from a local bead store, but unfortunately I can't find the same quality anywhere without spending major amounts. (The cushion cut string is long gone: I posted the necklace set last year, and it has been sold.)
These particular beads, while not top of the line quality, are nevertheless very nice. They are transparent, with a few inclusions, and have nice clear colors in the purples and yellows. They are smooth ovals, 2 to 3mm thick, and ranging in length from 6.5 to 10mm. I alternated the ovals with 2mm gold-filled beads, finishing with a vermeil s-clasp. The necklace is 16 inches long, with a weight of 0.4 oz.
I used gold-filled French hooks and vermeil connectors to make the matching earrings. The headpins and 2mm beads on the ends are also gold filled. The complete dangles are about 1.5 inches long, and the earrings weigh 0.1 oz.
