Mozambique garnet checkerboard faceted 6mm round earrings

I've decided that I like red garnet better than ruby.  The rubies I can afford usually have purplish or pinkish tones.  There's nothing wrong with that, but I prefer the rich red wine tones you can find in the red garnets.  (Garnets aren't always red: other shades are green, orange, and cinnamon-brown.)

These particular stones are faceted in a checkerboard style, which means that the facets on the surface are square.  They weigh about 1 carat each, and are 6mm in diameter.  I set them in sterling silver.
