Rec. Chalcedony 8mm necklace

Img_1735 Img_1741This material is reconstituted (or reclaimed) chalcedony.  Reconstituted/reclaimed stone is formed from the bits and pieces leftover after a stone is cut or shaped.  These waste pieces are ground into a powder and then mixed into a binding agent, usually some form of resin.  The new material is then shaped into beads.  So basically, it's the gemstone equivalent of fiberboard.

If you can get past that, these are beautiful beads!  They are translucent, and a lovely shade of blue.  I thought they deserved an elegant setting, so I really splurged on the other elements, especially the clasp:

The length of this necklace is 20 inches, with a weight of 1.7 oz.

Price: $36.50 (shipping is free)
